Stanley visitor centre pranks Tasmanians with fake 'snow covered Nut' photo

Aug 14, 2023

A viral social media post this morning had plenty of people fooled into thinking Stanley’s famous Nut had been covered in snow.

The photo, shared by Stanley and Tarkine Tasmania, also shows a waterfall making an “incredible splash” from the top of the nut.

“An incredible thing has happened in Stanley! As the snow begins to melt, a waterfall is making an incredibly splash from the top of the Nut, much to the amusement and shock of the local Tasmanian Tiger,” they posted.

Plenty of people in the comments fell for the joke, tagging friends and sharing the photo around – before Stanley and Tarkine Tourism added some clarification.

“It certainly isn’t real, just a bit of fun. Mind you, nothing is impossible,” they commented.
